MINUTES

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

29 September 2011

 

Held at  Noosa Sports @ the Junction (formerly Noosa Heads Bowls Club)

on 29th September 2010 at 5.45 p.m.

 

MEETING OPENED with a welcome from Chairman, Brian Stockwell

  

PRESENT     As shown in Attendance Sheets, with Apologies.

Chairman Brian Stockwell opened the meeting and welcomed Mayor Bob Abbot Cr Russell Green and all attendees.

 

MINUTES of previous meeting were moved and accepted as being a true record.

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Acting President, Tony, spoke of the achievements, forums and activities carried out during the year which were represented on screen by photos; they included:

    

     Community Forums and Information Presentations:

Tony also reported the extreme challenges faced by community groups due to rising costs of hiring Council venues for meetings, and current insurance requirements for $20 million public liability, in order to be able to hire any Council buildings.  This would increase insurance by around $500 pa which the committee felt was not viable.  This has presented challenges with sourcing alternative venues and establishing a regular base.  He gave appreciation to the various venues used this year, and thanked them for their hospitality and services.

 

Tony also thanked the committee for their work and support, including those members who had joined during the year – Rod Withyman, Marina Schwartz, Sue Kingston, Roland West.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

Report from Treasurer Tony Haslam.  Total bank assets: $5,045.52.  Full statement available.

 

 

CORRESPONDENCE

1.          SCRC Rating Reference Group – Tony accepted onto the panel selected from applicants across SC,              but this panel was then cancelled by SCRC, before commencing.

 

2.          Noosa Shodokan Aikido Club, advising NRRA as the auspicing body, that funding had been granted              to the group for purchase of equipment.

 

 

PROJECT OFFICER’S REPORT – Water Rates

Sue Kingston, PO for Water Rates and member of Unitywater Customer and Community Reference Group, felt that improvements had been made to customer service co-operation; she reported a new customer call centre had been established, with relationship specialist consultant appointed and quarterly billing to be set up next year.  She encouraged members of the community to contact her if they were experiencing unresolved difficulties with Unitywater.

  

NOMINATIONS        

In the absence of nominations for the role of president, but with other roles nominated and accepted without dissent, it was decided to defer the final composition until the first committee meeting to be held within a week of the AGM.

SPECIAL VOTE OF THANKS FOR TONY HASLAM

Brian introduced Stan Chandler and Mike Taylor, former NRRA Presidents.
Stan gave a warm précis of past experiences in appreciation of retiring Acting President, Tony Haslam’s time in his various roles within NRRA over the years, with many supporting statements from Mayor Bob Abbot and members of the audience.

 

Brian then closed the formal part of the evening.
